Missouri-based Holladay Distillery is expanding distribution of its dill pickle-flavoured whiskey Whicked Pickle.
The Kansas City distillery, which launched Whicked Pickle across Kansas, Missouri and Wisconsin in October, announced last week it will expand distribution to several more states from this month.
A nation-wide roll out is planned for early-2021.
“This product went from concept to market in a matter of months,” said Holladay’s vice president of marketing, Patrick Fee. “When the pandemic caused dips in other parts of our business, it allowed us to have some fun with product development.”
The privately-owned distillery, which also owns cream liqueur brand Tequila Rose, underwent a US$10m renovation in 2015 and is set to release a new Bourbon early next year.
Speaking to just-drinks last week, Atom Group, a spirits company bought by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2018, said a new product development platform has allowed it to bring new innovations to market in six weeks. The platform, called Atom Labs, has already resulted in the launch of Jaffa Cake Gin and an American whiskey designed to pair with barbecued food.
