Pa. officials: Progress made in fixing unemployment system problems, but some issues still unresolved
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry said last week it’s making some progress on fixing problems that have kept out-of-work Pennsylvanians from receiving unemployment benefits, but there are still roadblocks for claimants.The department tweeted Wednesday that some issues with the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance website have been resolved.A link on the website that was causing some claims to appear inactive was removed.An issue causing users to get stuck in an endless loop that sent them to the main page was fixed, the department said. UPDATE: Officials said they are still receiving reports of this issue and are investigating further.People who are self-employed are now being advised to enter the number “0” when prompted for 2020 wages.There are other issues the state is still trying to sort out.Acting Labor Secretary Jennifer Berrier told reporters this week that some people are not being given the option to claim pandemic unemployment assistance for previous weeks in January.Viewers tell us it’s a very common problem.”We have identified the issue and we’re working towards resolving it.
