An energy crisis looms large over Karnataka with three major power production stations in the state downscaling operations by more than half with the current coal reserve expected to last just 48 hours. Sources said only three of the eight units of Raichur Thermal Power Station are functioning at the moment. In the Ballari plant, only one of the four units is operational. The situation remains equally critical at Yermarus unit in Raichur with the coal reserve likely to last only for two days.
