Elkahon — The local entertainment industry is eagerly waiting for the COVID-19 restrictions to be lifted in the state next month.
Many local event promoters want to know how relaxed regulations affect the industry.
When the restrictions are lifted, concert halls like El Caphone’s Magnolia will be fully reopened. However, there are still some restrictions on the venues where “Mega Events” are held.
If the state lifts the COVID-19 restrictions by June 15, major events and rallies will soon resume. Kevin Hermann of the San Diego Event Coalition says he can’t wait.
“Everyone is back at work and sees events popping up,” says Hermann. “There are so many events going on, so July, August and September will be a good time to be in San Diego.”
However, the state states that “mega events” are still subject to some restrictions.
Mega events are events with more than 5,000 people indoors and more than 10,000 people outdoors.
Indoor mega-events require confirmation of participants’ complete vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test result.
For outdoor mega-events, it is recommended that the same or participants wear masks.
“I would probably go to such an event, and I’m vaccinated, and I think everyone should be vaccinated,” says Hermann. “No one wants to get sick, but my question is what are the requirements to check everyone?”
According to the state, participants can present a vaccination card, a photo of the vaccination card, or a document from a healthcare provider. At the venue, participants can also be required to prove themselves about vaccination prior to admission.
“Some people say it’s not cool, but it hasn’t been cool in the last 15 months and now I want to get back to normal life,” says Hellman.
When the limit is lifted, there will be no capacity limit for business or public spaces. It also eliminates the obligation to mask vaccinated people and the requirement for physical distance.
