Idaho Falls, Idaho (KIFI)-Released by Idaho National Laboratory Summary of its annual economic impact Wednesday. This shows that INL, like the rest of eastern Idaho, continues to grow and contribute significantly to Idaho’s economy.

- INL’s total economic impact increased by $ 336 million to reach $ 2.88 billion overall, an increase of 13.2% over the previous year.

- BEA has donated $ 566,000 for charitable donations, technology-based economic development grants, and STEM donations from kindergarten to high school.
“INL’s key mission is to directly contribute to changing the future of energy in the world,” said INL Director John Wagner. “It is this important mission that drives the growth of the lab. Our employees have the greatest opportunity to make a difference and work where they are excited to live in the wonderful state of Idaho. I would like to.”
Dr. Wagner said the lab is approaching the implementation of a major project that has been created over the years. Some of the biggest projects are partnerships negotiated for design and construction. Versatile test reactor With cleaner energy Nuclear system It can be built and deployed on the Moon, and perhaps used for subsequent missions to Mars. He said these projects themselves are excellent recruiting tools. This is also one of the reasons why Wagner was so excited when the new coach was announced last fall.
“I would like to say that this was all predicted, but this is exactly what I expected and expected,” said Dr. Wagner. “It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to really make history while working away from it.”
Of the institute’s new employees, 340 are from Idaho and 160 are from other parts of the country. Rebeca Swaner is one of them. She was recently hired as a manager at the Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology in Hillsboro, Oregon. She is one of many new employees working in remote areas, including occasional commute to eastern Idaho.
“I knew about INL long before I went to college and always wanted to work here,” Swanna said.
Swana said her dream job at the National Institute of Idaho encouraged her to pursue a degree in chemistry, but it was the site’s mission for clean energy that sealed the deal.
“We’re always aiming for better … can we reduce those carbon emissions, and can I move away from it,” she said.
The situation in Swanna is becoming more common in the lab, INL Impact on All 50 States..
