Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon announced Tuesday that he has appointed Deputy Director Stefan Johansson as Interim Director of the Wyoming Department of Health, and Information Services Administrator Timothy Sheehan as Interim Chief Information Officer of the Department of Enterprise Technology Services. The appointments are in response to the resignations of WDH Director Mike Ceballos and ETS Chief Information Officer Gordon Knopp.
The resignations of Ceballos and Knopp come after the data breach that was announced late last month by the Wyoming Department of Health that exposed the health information of nearly 165,000 Wyoming residents. The WDH, via a media release issued in April, said they became aware of a breach involving protected health information on March 10 and that it was discovered that a Department of Health employee working with computer code accidentally released COVID-19 test results, as well as blood alcohol test results going back to 2012. Governor Gordon, in a media release, said he appreciated the efforts of Ceballos and Knopp in guiding their agencies through the challenges over the past two years.
